Wednesday's Two-Minute Takeaway - How Do I Know It's Time to Move On?
In Gen 30:25-31:21 Jacob knew it was time to move on from a very difficult relationship.
His father-in-law had been taking advantage of him and his family for years. The strife in his life was more than circumstantial - God was sending help to motivate a move.
So, how do you know when it's time to move on? How can you tell if God is telling you He wants change in your life or is giving His approval to make a move?
Here are seven things from the text that help discern God's will in your life. While you don't need all of then to know it's time to make a move, if you see all of them pay special attention:
1) Jacob became inwardly motivated and convinced it’s time; 2) circumstances changed in his relationships that got his attention; 3) he heard clear confirmation from God’s word; 4) he consulted with others (his family) and they agreed; 5) the desire to stay was removed; 6) he continued to work diligently and faithfully until the move; 7) circumstances permitted his departure, and so he obeyed.
Let's Take The Message Home:
Look at the 7 things that confirmed to Jacob that God was making a move in his life. Where might these be aligning in your life that indicates God might be preparing you for a move?
Write them down, make sure they align with God's clear teaching from His word, and begin to pray as you notice these things align in your life. When it's time to move, you'll know.
