Friday's Two-Minute Takeaway - Confrontation
From Genesis 31:44-55
As uncomfortable as conflict is, it gives each of us an opportunity to reveal something important about our self and about others and you don’t want to miss it.
Trust is the currency for strong relationships. Laban and Jacob have lost it. When selfish-ness defines one or both parties in conflict, don’t be surprised when the separation is marked by suspicion.
Parting on poor terms is not the best way to end a relationship, but it may be the only way this side of heaven. The hypocrite (like Laban) gets in a few last digs, but the humble (like Jacob) choose wisely to quietly move on. These two will meet no more and that okay.
Remember, God was there during this confrontation – He promises to be there for yours too (Mt 18:20). Do your part to stay humble and if necessary quietly move on.
Here’s your opportunity, don’t miss it. It the question you cannot afford to forget: Will I use this confrontation to conceal or reveal what Jesus did at Calvary (2 Cor. 5:18-21)?
You cannot win every confrontation, but you can bring Christ in to everyone of them and do your part to be like Him.
Let's Take the Message Home:
Do your conflicts tend to reveal or conceal Jesus at Calvary? Why? What can you commit to personally that would foster humility and reduce hypocrisy while also exalting Calvary?
